Another GOR fun day out

Went well yesterday and finished the 23km Great Ocean Road half marathon in 1.47 which was a lot faster than I thought. Seems that the training is going Ok after all. I ran with Aaron until about 16km, and though he was hanging on a bit, he slowly drifted up the road at that point while we were running 4.20 min/km pace and going uphill. Bugger. There was nothing in the tank to go with him, and he drifted away....

Also ran with a guy called BlueBoy from CoolRunning, and we paced each other well for about 5km.
Besides that, had a great weekend. Stayed at a great holiday house in Fairhaven, had a nice run through the bush on Saturday (5km easy), and dinner at the Pub at Airey's Inlet on friday night. Overall good friends, good food and a fun race.

Great Ocean Rd Half 2006

This weekend is the Great Ocean Rd marathon and half marathon. Sophie and I are running the half marathon this year, which goes to prove I am not as fit as I was back then. I am still ramping up for Gold Coast marathon, so this weekend will be a training run at race pace. But I seem to be struggling to get in all my runs, especially the mid week long run on a Wednesday.

I'm not really sure how I will go this weekend in the Half Marathon. I probably will be undercooked, and hurt a bit on the hills. I ran 1.56 for teh second half of the marathon last year, so if I can better than I will be happy.

Splish, Splash - a long run in the rain

Long run in the rain yesterday. It was raining when I went out, and rained the whole time (1h45m). Merri Creek was in flood, and water was flowing down from everywhere. I actually enjoyed the change in scenery, and found I felt strong (after hiking in tassie), but a bit slow (from not running much in the past 3 weeks).
